Ingredients
- 12 oz penne pasta
- 1 pound mild Italian sausage (bulk)
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 1 can (15 oz) Italian style tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 oz) Contadina recipe ready diced tomatoes with roasted garlic
- 1 can (6oz) tomato paste
- 1/2 cup water, chicken broth or wine
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Preparation
Step 1
Cook pasta according to directions; drain.
Cook sausage and onion in oil in large skillet over medium-high heat, 5 minutes; drain. Stir in tomato sauce, undrained tomatoes, tomato paste and 1/2 cup water, chicken broth or wine. Cook, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes.
Combine pasta and sauce in 13x9 baking dish. Sprinkle with cheese. Cover and bake in preheated 350 oven, 20 minutes or until cheese is melted.
