Turkey Dressing

This is Grandma Merita Hutchison's dressing recipe that we all love.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups bread crumbs, seasoned (use 1 pkg. Pepperidge Farms Herb dressing mix)
  • 4 cups corm bread (use 1 pkg.Pepperidge Farms Corm Bread dressing mix)
  • 1/3 cup margarine
  • 1/2 t. baking powder
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 t. salt
  • 1/2 t. pepper
  • 1 T. sage
  • 1 T. Thyme
  • 1 T. Rosemary
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped

Preparation

Step 1

In a large skillet, sauté onion in fat until golden brown. Add celery and cook until clear.

Mix well beaten eggs with milk and pour into skillet mixture. Pour this mix over bread crumbs and seasonings.

If needed, add broth for moisture for a thinner consistency. You want the dressing to be pretty soupy.

You can substitute Swanson Chicken broth for the milk if you like.

Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 1 hour or until golden brown on top.

Use and temperature gauge and when the internal temperature reaches 140 degrees or higher, take out of oven and let sit. The dressing will continue to cook for awhile.
