Ingredients
- Crust:
- 1 cup flour
- 1 stick margarine, softened
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- Chocolate Cream Filling:
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 egg yolks, beaten
- 2 1/2 tablespoons cocoa
- 1/3 cup cornstarch
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoons vanilla
- Cream Cheese Filling:
- 1 (8 ounce) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup Cool Whip
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- Topping:
- 1 cup Cool Whip
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix crust ingredients. Pat dough in 9" square pan. Bake about 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Set aside.
Prepare chocolate cream filling. In a medium saucepan, mix all ingredients except the butter and vanilla; beat well. Stir continuously over medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla. Pour into bowl and place a piece of plastic wrap on filling to prevent a film on top. Refrigerate until cold.
After crust and filling have cooled, prepare cream cheese filling. Beat cream cheese. Add powdered sugar. Fold in Cool Whip. Pour this filling in crust. Pour chocolate cream filling on top of cream cheese mixture. Top with Cool Whip and chopped nuts. Refrigerate.
Variation: Add 1/2 cup chopped pecans to a roll of Chocolate Chip cookie dough for the crust.
