Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening
- one stick margarine
- 1 cup water
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- two eggs beaten
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice fill rest of cup with to make 1/2 cup
- or 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Preparation
Step 1
Mix flour and sugar. In saucepan bring to a boil the shortening, margarine, water and Cocoa. Pour over flour mixture while still hot. Beat Well. Add butter milk, eggs, baking soda, vanilla and cinnamon. Bake in a sheet pan at 400° for 20 minutes.
Prepare icing during last 10 minutes of baking time for cake Bring to a boil one stick margarine 4 tablespoons cocoa and 6 tablespoons milk. And one box of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat with mixer until smooth. Stir in 1 cup nuts. Spread over cake while still hot.
