Ingredients
- 1 baked 9" pie shell
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 6 tablespoons cornstarch
- 3 egg yolks, beaten
- 3 cups milk
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
Combine sugar and cornstarch. Add egg yolks and milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens. Remove from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla. Pour into pie shell. Refrigerate. Top with Cool Whip or sweetened whipped cream.
Variations:
Banana Cream: Pour 1/2 filling in bottom of pie shell. Next, arrange 2 sliced bananas & top with remaining filling.
Coconut Cream: Stir in 1 cup coconut in prepared filling.
Pineapple Cream: Stir in 1 cup drained, crushed pineapple in prepared filling.
Chocolate Cream: Stir in 1 cup milk chocolate chips with the butter and vanilla.
