CHOCOLATE CREAM CHEESE PIE

Ingredients

  • 1 9" baked pie shell
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 egg yolks, beaten
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Cool Whip

Preparation

Step 1

Combine sugar, cornstarch, egg yolks, milk, and cocoa. Stir constantly over medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and margarine. Pour into pie shell. Refrigerate. Top with Cool Whip or sweetened whipped cream.

Variation: Prepare filling and pour in bowl. Place plastic wrap inside the bowl directly on the filling to prevent a film. Refrigerate until cold.

Cream Cheese Layer:
1 (8 ounce) package cream room temperature
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup Cool Whip
1 teaspoon vanilla, optional

With electric mixer, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth. Stir in Cool Whip and vanilla. Pour into baked pie shell. Top with chocolate filling. Top with Cool Whip.
