Ingredients
- Basic sponge cake batter
- Vegetable cooking spray
- 3 ½ cups sifted powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
- ¼ cup boiling water
- 2 Tbsps butter, softened
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp salt
Preparation
Step 1
Pour basic sponge cake batter into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan coated with cooking spray, spreading evenly. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until cake springs back when touched lightly in center. Let cool completely in pan on wire rack.
Combine powdered sugar and remaining ingredients in a bowl, and beat at high speed of an electric mixer until smooth.
Spread chocolate frosting evenly over cooled cake. Cover and chill.
