Old-Fashioned Date-Nut Bread

Date and Balsamic-Glazed Brussels...

Ingredients

1 c. dates or raisins
1 c. boiling water
Mix and cool.
1 tsp. soda
1 c. shortening (part butter)
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1 T. cocoa
Vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Mix ingredients, add dates or raisins. Put in 9x13 pan and sprinkle over the top:
1 c. brown sugar
1 bag chocolate chips
Chopped walnuts
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes in greased 7x12 pan.
Serve cake with whipped cream.
