Ingredients
- Crumb Base:
- 6 C flour
- 2 C sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1.5 C oil
- 2 eggs
- 2 T vanilla sugar
- Apple Mixture:
- 18 baking apples
- 1.5 C sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 3 T vanilla sugar
Preparation
Step 1
Combine all crumb ingredients and set aside.
Peel apples and grate finely. Add sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla sugar to apple and mix.
Place enough crumbs into four 9-inch round pans to cover the bottoms. press crumbs firmly into pans. cover crumbs with a think later of apple mixture. sprinkle another layer of crumbs over the apple mix, then another layer of the apple mix (finishing it up). Sprinkle the final layer of crumbs over apples.
Bake at 350 for 1.5 hrs.
When you cut the finished pie you'll see 5 layers: crumb, apple, crumb,apple, and crumb.
NOTE: makes 4 round pans
