Refrigerator Cookies (Grandma A's)

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Cup White Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 4 Cups Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 3/4 Cups Shortening
  • 3 Eggs
  • Nuts (Slivered Almonds or Filberts or Peanut Halves)

Preparation

Step 1

Sift all dry ingredients together. In mixer, add dry ingredients and shortening together until mixed. Add eggs and mix. Wrap dough in rectangular logs (appox. 1 1/2 inch height, 2 1/2- 3 inches width, 8 inches length) and refrigerate overnight.

Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. Taking one roll out at a time, slice to 1/4 inch thickness and place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes until brown. Watch the first few to ensure they do no burn based on your oven temp.

Remove and cool. When cool place in sealed container. These freeze well.
