Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups very warm water (about 115 degrees F)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp, heaping, vital wheat gluten
- 3 1/2 - 4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup salt butter, melted
- 2-4 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
- Garlic powder
- Dried basil
- Dried oregano
- Dried marjoram
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 170 degrees F.
In the bowl of a stand mixer, whisk together the water, sugar, and yeast. Let the mixture rest for 5 minutes or until foamy.
Add the salt, gluten, and flour
(1 cup at a time). Mix on low, switching
to the dough hook as the mixture becomes thick.
Mix on low for 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, pour half of the
melted butter onto a large (rimmed) jelly roll pan and spread evenly with the
pastry brush.
Place the kneaded dough onto
the pan and allow to rest for 3-5 minutes.
Use your fingers to push the
dough to the edges of the pan. Pour the
remaining butter over the dough and spread evenly over the surface. Sprinkle the garlic, herbs, and parmesan over
the dough and use a pizza cutter to slice the dough into 24 strips.
Place the tray into the
preheated oven for 10 minutes, then turn the heat to 350 degrees F and bake for
12-20 minutes (depending upon how fast your oven preheats).
