Chicken Paprikash

Ingredients

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1-3 # chicken
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation

Step 1

1. Brown chicken in shortening lightly. Add onions and cook over low heat till transparent. Mix in seasonings and cook few minutes. Add water cover and simmer slowly until tender if desired, add ½ pint half-and-half or ½ pint sour cream. If done, do not allow to boil. Serve over Knedle.
