Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 3 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • sugar

Preparation

Step 1

In large bowl, beat sugar, margarine, molasses and eggs until light and fluffy. Stir in flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and nutmeg; mix well. Cover with plastic wrap; refrigerate 1 hour.

Heat oven to 350. Shape dough into 1" balls; roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-12 minutes or until set. (Cookies will puff up and flatten during baking.) Cool 1 minute. Remove from cookie sheet.
