Ingredients

  • Crust:
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 2 tbsp cold milk
  • Filling:
  • 6 cups tart apples sliced
  • 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 tbsp. flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp nutmeg
  • Topping:
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold butter

Preparation

Step 1

Mix dry ingredients for pastry; blend oil and milk in with fork. Pat pastry with hand into 10 inch pie pan. Flute edges. Peel and slice apples, toss with mixture of sugar, flour and spices. Pour into crust. Blend topping ingredients together and crumble on top of apples. Place in a medium sized brown paper bag and bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Do not peek in bag while cooking.
