Holiday Chocolate Chip Squares

Ingredients

• 2 1/4 c. flour
• 1/4 tsp. salt
• 1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
• 1 c. butter, softened
• 1 /1/4 c. sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 1 c. chocolate chips
• 1 c. chopped nuts
• candy spearmint leaves
• 3 6oz. jars maraschino cherries

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°. Combine dry ingredients, set aside. Combine butter and sugar; beat until creamy. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Gradually add in flour mixture. Stir in chips and nuts. Spread into greased 9x13" glass baking dish. Press 30 cherries into dough, spacing them to form 6 rows - 5 cherries per row. Place quartered leaves at base of each cherry. Bake 25-30 minutes.
