Ingredients
- 4 Golden Delicious Apples
- a squeeze of lemon juice
- 2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten
- Unsalted melted buuter, to brush
- 3 T caster sugar
- Ice Cream to Serve
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180C and line 2 baking trays with parchment. Peel, core and quarter the apples, then cut into very think slices. Toss the slices in lemon juice to keep from discolouring.
Using a round 12cm cutter, cut pastry into 8 rounds and divide between each pastry round. Brush pastry with egg.
Arrange apple slices in pastry in a circle, ensuring the slices overlap slightly.
Brush apples with melted butter and sprinkle each iwht 1 t of sugar. Bake for 25-30 minutes, sprinkling with remaining sugar for the final 5 minutes of cooking time, until pastry is crisp and apples are golden and crisped at the edges. Sreve warm, topped with ice cream.
