pinch cream of tartar
small bananas, sliced
c. caramel ice cream topping
T grated semi-sweet chocolate
c. lightly sweetened whipped cream
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment and trace an 8"" circle onto the surface. 2. In a small cup or bowl, stir together the sugar, cornstarch and cream of tartar. 3. In a large glass mixer bowl, whip the egg whites with salt, vanilla and vinegar until soft peaks form. 4. Gradually sprinkle in the sugar mixture and continue to whip til stiff and shiny. 5. Mound the mixture on to the traced circle on baking sheet. Flatten the top and smooth the sides with a metal spatula. 6. Place baking sheet in oven and immediately reduce heat to 300 degrees F. Bake for 1-1 1/2 hours, until very pale golden brown. 7. Turn off oven, and leave oven door slightly open til pavlova is completely cooled. 8. Just before serving, place pavlova on serving plate, top with banana slices. Drizzle caramel sauce over bananas. Top with whipped cream ansd sprinkle with grated chocolate.
