Candy Lassies

Ingredients

  • Cookies:
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 t. B.P.
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1/2 t. cinnamon
  • 1/2 t. nutmeg
  • 1/4 t. ginger
  • 2/3 c. butter
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 egg
  • 2 T. molasses
  • 1/2 c. peppermint stick candy, finely crushed
  • Frosting:
  • 2 c. sifted powdered sugar
  • 1/2 t. vanilla
  • 2 t. crushed peppermint candy
  • 2 T. soft butter
  • few drops red food coloring
  • 1 to 3 T. milk

Preparation

Step 1

Sift together flour through ginger. Set aside. Cream well butter and both sugars. Blend in egg and molasses. Beat well. Add crushed peppermint candy to the dry ingredients. Mix well. Drop by teaspoonfulls onto cookie sheets covered with parchment paper. Bake 350* for 12 to 15 minutes. Cool

For frosting combine 2 c. powdered sugar, vanilla, 2 t. peppermint candy, 2 T. soft butter and few drops red food coloring. Blend in 1 to 3 T. milk until of desired consistency. Frost Cookies.

Makes 3 1/2 dozen cookies
