Piping Hot Biscuits

Roll dough half as thick as you like your baked biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2/3 cup milk

Preparation

Step 1

Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar salt and cream of tartar. Cut in shortening till mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk all at once. Stir with a fork just till combined. Knead gently 10 times on lightly floured surface. Roll or pat dough 1/2" thick. Cut with floured biscuit cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet.

Bake in 450F oven 10 to 12 minutes or till golden brown.
