CHOCOLATE CARAMEL BARS

  • 14 oz Kraft caramels
  • 1/2 c marg, melted
  • 5 oz evaporated milk
  • 1/2 c chopped walnuts
  • 6 oz semisweet chocolate
  • 18.25 oz Betty Crocker German Chocolate mix

Preparation

Step 1

Melt caramels with 1/3 c evaporated milk over low heat, stirring until smooth. Combine remaining evaporated milk (1/4 c), cake mix and margarine; mix well, press half of cake mixture onto bottom of ungreased 13x9x2 baking pan. 350, 6 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate pieces and ¼ c walnuts over crust; drizzle with caramel mixture. Top with teaspoonfuls of remaining cake mixture; press gently into caramel mixture. Sprinkle with remaining walnuts. 350, 18-20 minutes. Cool slightly and cut into bars.
