Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 c chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic chopped
  • 1 1/2 lbs Italian Sausage
  • 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 1 6 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 c chopped parsley fresh
  • 1/2 c chopped basil fresh
  • 1 teas oregano
  • 2 teas sea salt
  • 3/4 teas pepper
  • 1 box lasanga noodles
  • 1 lb whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 1 c grated parmasan cheese
  • 1 lb whole milk mozzarella cheese
  • 1 large egg

Preparation

Step 1

Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan. Add the onion and cook over medium heat until translucent. (about 5 min) Add the garlic and stir for 1 min. Add the sausage, and cook over medium-low heat, breaking it up with a wooden spoon for 10-15 min or until fully cooked and no longer pink. Drain off any excess fat. Add the crushed tomatoes,tomato paste, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, parsley, salt and pepper. Simmer over low heat for about an hour. Cook the lasanga noodles according to the directions on the box. Mix the egg and the ricotta cheese. Shred the mozzarella cheese.

Layer in a 9x13 baking dish.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 35-40 min or until heated through and cheese is melted.
