Butterscotch Cookies

Ingredients

  • Browned butter frosting:
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 (8 oz.) sour cream
  • 2/3 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 3 1/2 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 to 6 tsp. hot water
  • milk- little bit

Preparation

Step 1

Mix dry ingredients together and set aside. Beat sugar and shortening together. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat till light. Alternately add flour mixture and sour cream. Stir in chopped walnuts.

Bake on greased cookie sheet 375 degrees 10 to 12 minutes.

For frosting: In pan stir 1/2 c. butter over medium heat till golden brown – watch closely. Remove from heat stir in powdered sugar and vanilla and hot water. Beat till frosting is easy to spread.
