Ingredients
- Piecrust
- 7 c apples, sliced
- 1 c sugar
- 2 T lemon juice
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 T butter or margarine
- 2 T flour
- 1 egg white
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
Preparation
Step 1
Mix 1 c sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. In large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice. Combine sugar mixture with apples; place in pastry-lined plate. Cut butter in small pieces; dot over apples. Place top pastry on pie. Beat egg white until frothy; use to brush edge of pastry and the rest of the top. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake 425, 45-50 minutes
