Ingredients

  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored and cut into 1/4-inch cube
  • 3 tablespoons apple jelly, heated
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 1 package Nasoya Egg Roll Wraps
  • 2 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into bits
  • 4 ounces room temperature water
  • 1/2 stick melted (warmed) whole sweet butter - optional
  • Confectioner's sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Put oven rack in lower third of oven and preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Butter a large baking sheet.

Make filling: Stir together apple, jelly, sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and nutmeg n a bowl.

Place wraps flat on a clean, dry cutting board, so the wrap is in the shape of a diamond. Place 1 to 2 tablespoons of apple filling in the center of the wrapper and along with a few bits of butter.

With your index finger, seal all 4 sides of the wrap with water. Then fold and wrap like a burrito. Place on baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 5 to 7 minutes or until light golden brown.

Remove from oven and brush with melted butter. Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar.

Makes 8 turnovers.
