BARBEQUE CHICKEN CASSEROLE

Ingredients

  • SAUCE:
  • Chicken breasts (package) - 1 per person or cut up chicken.
  • Fry in pan until nicely browned on both sides. Use about 1/4 to 1/2 cup butter (not oil) Lift out and place in large casserole dish. Pour sauce over.
  • NOTE: I find 1/4 cup butter too much and will cut back to 1/8 cup.
  • 1 tsp minced onion
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp celery seed or celery salt
  • 1 tsp savory
  • pinch of ginger

Preparation

Step 1

Add butter left in frying pan. Bake at 350 oven for 1-1/4 hours (covered). When about 1/2 done, baste. Do not turn chicken. Serve with baked potatoes or rice, hot rolls, coleslaw.
