Ingredients
- 1 tbsp butter, softened
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp coarsely chopped walnuts
- 2 cups milk
- 1 (8 oz) loaf French bread, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup golden raisins
- 1 1/2 tbsp Amaretto
- 2 tbsp sugar
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350.
Spread softened butter evenly into bottom of an 8-inch round cake pan and sprinkle with brown sugar and walnuts. Set aside.
Combine milk and bread in large bowl. Let stand for 15 minutes, occasionally pressing on bread to soak up milk. Add 1/2 cup sugar, melted butter, vanilla, salt and eggs; stir with wooden spoon for 1 minutes or til bread cubes break apart. Stir in raisins and Amaretto. Pour into pan. Place pan in 13x9-inch baking pan; add hot water to larger pan to a depth of 1 inch. Bake for around 50 minutes. Remove cake pan from water and let stand for 5 minutes. Invert onto serving platter. Sift 2 tbsp sugar over pudding. Melt and caramelize with kitchen torch.
Serve.
