Ingredients

  • Cake:

  • 2

    c of flour

  • 2

    c of sugar

  • 1/2

    c Crisco oil

  • 4

    tbsp cocoa (unsweetened)

  • 1

    c water

  • 1/2

    c buttermilk

  • 2

    eggs, slightly beaten

  • 1

    tsp baking soda

  • 1

    tsp vanilla

  • 1

    tsp cinnamon

  • Icing:

  • 1

    stick margarine

  • 4

    tbsp cocoa (unsweetened)

  • 6

    tbsp milk

  • 1

    box (1-lb) powdered sugar

  • 1

    tsp vanilla

  • 1

    cup pecans, chopped (optional)

Directions

Spray 9X13 pan with PAM. Lightly flour and set aside for cake mix. Cake: Sift together flour and sugar in a large bowl. In a small sauce pan mix Crisco oil, cocoa and water. Bring mixture to rapid boil. Remove from heat and pour over flour mixture and stir well. Add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda, vanilla and cinnamon to flour mixture and mix well. Pour mixture into 9X13 pan Bake at 325 for 45 minutes. Icing: Wait for the cake to cool completely before making the icing. In a medium sauce pan melt margarine. Add cocoa and milk to margarine and bring to a rapid boil. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar, vanilla and pecans. Stir well and quickly pour over cake while the icing is hot. The icing will set quickly.
