  • Topping: Melt 2 T butter and drizzle over 6 slices white bread cut in pieces (no crust)

Preparation

Step 1

Melt 6 T butter – stir in ½ c flour, cook. Add 5 ½ c whole milk, boiled. Cook until thick. Add ½ tsp salt, ¼ tsp nutmeg, ¼ tsp cayenne pepper, ¼ tsp black pepper, 3 c cheddar cheese, add 1 pound cooked macaroni. In pan, top with more cheese and topping. 375, 1 hour.
