***Sour Cream Cut-Out Cookies-Monku in Nevada's

Ingredients

  • Cream together:
  • Dough needs to chill at least 2 hours. Can be made night before.
  • 1 cup butter Scrape bottom and sides of bowl frequently mixing batter well.
  • 1-1/2 cups white granulated sugar
  • Blend in:
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • Sift together:
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • Add sifted ingredients a little at a time to the batter, being sure to mix well before adding the next.
  • Chill 2 hours. (I usually put the dough in a zip loc and then in the frig. )
  • When ready to bake: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Preparation

Step 1

To roll out:
Flour cutting board so dough won't stick when rolling out.
Take about 1/4 of the dough and flatten with rolling pin (which also should be floured
and/or have a rolling pin "sock" on it)

Dip cookie cutters in flour before cutting cookie.
Gently put cookies on silpat on the cookie sheet.
If adding sprinkles, do now before baking.


Bake in 350 degree oven for 8-10 minutes or until cookies are set, but not brown.
