Warm Bacon Dip in Bread Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 (1 lb) round loaf of sourdough bread, unsliced
  • 1 (8-oz) pkg. cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheese ( I used cheddar)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 pound of mesquite or maple bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup of chopped green onions
  • assorted crackers, toasted bread cubes, and sliced veggies

Preparation

Step 1

Cut the top fourth off the loaf of bread; carefully hollow out the bottom, leaving a 1” shell. Cut the removed bread and top of loaf into cubes, set aside.

In mixing bowl, beat cream cheese. Add sour cream, shredded cheese and Worcestershire sauce until combine. Stir in bacon and onions. Spoon into bread shell. Wrap in heavy duty foil. Bake at 325 for 45 minutes – 1 hour or until heated through.

Toast bread cubes. Serve as desired.


***I cheated a little on the bacon. I cooked some real bacon, crumbled, etc, then I added some ‘Real Bacon Bits’ out of the package that are already done! Just was being lazy because I did 3 batches of this, but it seemed to work ok. And, I didn’t do the onions.
