This buttery combination of popcorn with mixed nuts is definitely a winning combination. I first tasted this recipe many years ago when we got a beautiful bowl full of this poppycock wrapped up in pretty cellophane paper as a Christmas gift from dear friends of ours. We loved it so much, I got the recipe and have made it every Christmas since.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Karo Syrup
  • 2 2/3 cups White Sugar
  • 2 cups Mixed Nuts, Peanuts Or Cashews
  • 1 lb Real Butter (Not Margarine)

Preparation

Step 1

1. Combine all the ingredients in a heavy saucepan and boil until hard crack stage on a candy thermometer. Pour over eight quarts of popped corn into a large bowl. Mix well. Spread on cookies sheets to cool. When cool, break apart. If you don't have a candy thermometer, boil syrup until a drop placed in ice cold water stays firm and does not separate at all.
