My Grandma's Glazed Doughnuts

best recipe ever
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 4 teaspoons salt
- 2 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 1/3 cup crisco
- 2 packages dry yeast
- 3 cups potato water
- 14 cups flour
- 5 large beaten eggs
Preparation
Step 1
Mix potatoes with crisco while hot. Mix well. Let cool a little then add the beaten eggs, stir well.
Dissolve the 2 packages yeast in 3 cups lukewarm potato
water.
Mix the 1 1/2c. sugar, 4 teaspoons salt, add the potato egg and crisco mixture. Stir well. Add the dissolved yeast
then flour. Knead well.
Let rise in a large container that has been greased well. Cover and let rise until doubled in size. Divide into four parts. Roll out 1/4" thick. Cut with biscuit cutter. Pull center with thumb. Let rise till light.about 1 hour.
Fry in hot crisco until light brown. Drain on paper towles. then dip in glaze when cool.
Glaze:
Dissolve 3 boxes powdered sugar in boiling water. Add a little at a time until thin. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla and lemon flavoring. Taste and if you want a little more add it.
Dip doughnuts when cool. Drain on a baking sheet lined with cooling racks. When icing sets remove and enjoy.
This makes a lot you can cut recipe in half.
