TORTILLA CHIP CASSEROLE

Ingredients

  • 1 med. onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (4 oz.) can green chilies
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 lb. Monterey Jack cheese (sliced or grated)
  • 2-3 c. cooked chicken or ground beef
  • 8 oz. tortilla chips
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 1/2 c. grated Cheddar cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven 350 degrees. Saute onion in butter, add tomato sauce, chilies and salt. Simmer uncovered 10 minutes.

Layer in casserole dish: tortilla chips, Jack cheese, meat, sauce. Repeat layers. Bake 20 minutes. Remove from oven. Spread with sour cream and grated Cheddar cheese. Broil until cheese melts.
