Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery (optional)
  • 6 cups dry bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tsp poultry seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 cup butter or hard margarine
  • 1 tsp chicken bouillon powder
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water

Preparation

Step 1

Melt first amount of butter in large dutch oven. Add onion and celery. Saute until soft.

Stir in next 5 ingredients.

Mix second amount of butter, bouillon powder and hot water in small bowl until butter melts. Pour over crumb mixture. Toss. When a handful is squeezed, mixture should hold shape.

VARIATION: In a hurry? Instead of frying onion and celery, use 1/4 cup onion flakes, 1 tbsp celery flakes and 1 tbsp parsley flakes.
