HAM IT UP SPLIT PEA SOUP

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs dried split peas, rinsed, drained and sorted.
  • 1 meaty (LEAN) ham bone,
  • 2 medium onions, quartered
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 Tbs powdered chicken bullion
  • 1 Tsp paprika
  • 3 qt water (adjust to thickness desired of soup)
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Preparation

Step 1

Add all ingredients in large stock pot.
Bring to boil, and simmer gently for 3 hrs.
Remove ham bone and cut off ham and return to soup.
Remove bay leaves Serve with hot pepper sauce!
This is the secret ingredient
Soup thickens quite a bit when left over -- just add water as needed when reheating.
