Mama Mowery's Scotch Short Bread Cookies

Ingredients

• I cup of butter
• 1 Egg
• 1 cup margarine
• 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda
• 1 cup of pure lard
• 9 cups of flour
• 1 box of confectioner's sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Cream butter, margarine and lard.

Add sugar and beat until fluffy

Add egg and beat well

Add four cups of flour sifted with soda.

Add remaining flour and mix with hands

Press into a 12" X 16" pan until about 1/2" thick

Prick with fork

Bake at 300 degrees until light brown (about 50 minutes).

Cut into squares while warm.

Cool in Pan

Note: Tastes better after about 6 weeks
