Ingredients
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 sticks butter, softened
- 1 cup solid vegetable shortening
- 1 1/2 cups (packed) light brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 (12 oz) package semisweet chocolate chips (I like to add more)
Preparation
Step 1
In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, shortening, and all sugar together on medium-high speed. Add eggs, one at a time to creamed mixture and beat well; add vanilla extract and blend. Turn mixer to low speed and blend in about half of the flour mixture; using a wooden spoon, stir in the remaining flour by hand. Add chocolate and blend well. Chill dough for several hours or overnight. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
