Ingredients

  • 3 cups of flour
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup of milk
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of margarine or butter (softened)
  • 1 1/2 t. of baking powder
  • 1 1/2 t. vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • (Note: you can use self rising flour but if you do leave out the baking powder and
  • salt. )

Preparation

Step 1

Beat all ingredients (EXCEPT PECANS) on low speed for 30 seconds.

Beat on high speed for 3 minutes

Stir in Pecans

Pour mixture into bundt baking pan

Bake at 325 degrees for one hour and between 5 and 15 minutes until done.

Cool for 20 minutes (in pan)

Remove from pan and cool on rack.

(Optional: Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired).
