Ingredients

  • Filling:
  • 1 c. chopped dates or raisins
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. water
  • Boil these together until thick; stir constantly.
  • Mix together;
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 1 3/4 c. quick oats
  • pinch of salt

Step 1

Mix dry ingredients until crumbly. Spread about 2/3 of meal mixture in a ungreased 13x9 inch pan. Press down firmly. Spread date mixture over the dry layer. Sprinkle remainder of meal mixture on top. Bake till lightly browned at 375 about 15 to 20 minutes. Cool. Cut into bars.
