6 Week Bran Muffins (B/M)

Hint: I find this tastes better if you refrigerate batter for 24 hours before baking first batch of muffins.

Ingredients
- 3 cups sugar
- 1 cup liquid shortening
- 5 teaspoons soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups Kellogg's All Bran cereal
- 2 cups Nabisco 100% All Bran cereal
- 2 cups boiling water
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 5 cups flour
- 1 quart buttermilk
Preparation
Step 1
Pour boiling water over Nabisco 100% All Bran cereal and cool.
In extra-large bowl cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and buttermilk. Add Kellogg's All Bran cereal.
Sift together dry ingredients and add to above mixture a small amount at a time, mixing after each addition. Fold in soaked bran cereal.
Bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
Batter keeps in refrigerator for 6 weeks.
