Cranberry Applesauce

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (1/2) bag fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup sugar + more to taste
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 4 large granny smith apples, peeled and cored and cut into large (1/2 inch) chunks

Step 1

In a medium sauce pot, combine cranberries, spices, sugar, and wine. Bring to boil, then reduce and simmer 20 min. Add apples, stir, add a bit of water if needed, and cover. Continue to simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. If sauce begins to stick, add water.
Remove from heat and cool to room temp before serving.
Serve with latkes OR vanilla ice cream.
