Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp. AP flour
  • 1/2 + tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. lemon zest
  • 6 large cortland apples
  • lemon juice as needed
  • butter as needed
  • 2 pie crusts
  • milk as needed

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400. Mix sugar thru lemon zest. Peel, core, cut apples and sprinkle wit lemon juice as you go along.. Mix 3/4 of dry mix with sliced apples. Roll both pie crusts to a bit larger than pie plate. Place apples in pie dish 1/3 at a time adding a bit of dry mix to each layer and on top. Place slices of butter on top as desired. Place top crust on and crimp edges. Cut vents in trop crust and brush with milk to brown. Bake at 400 for 15 min., lower temp to 350 and cook 40 min. longer.
