Aunt Mae's chocolate Christmas cookies 0 Picture


  • 1/4 lb butter
  • 1 box bitter chocolate
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 cup citron, chopped
  • 1 cup toasted almonds, chopped



Step 1

-preheat oven to 375 degrees
-grease cookie sheet
-melt butter and chocolate
-beat eggs and add sugar
-mix flour, spices and baking powder; add to chocolate mixture and then add all to eggs and sugar mixture
-add nuts and citron and refrigerate for 2 hours
-roll out to 1 inch thick and cut diagonally both ways to form diamonds
-can brush with beaten egg or add icing after baking
-bake for 10 to 12 minutes
-ice with butter, cocoa, powdered sugar and milk
