  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 Egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons Butter, melted
  • 1 medium (1 cup) Gala apple, peeled, chopped
  • 6 slices (1/2 cup) bacon, crisply cooked, chopped
  • 6 (3/4-ounce) slices American cheese, cut into quartersDirections

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 375°F. Grease 12-cup muffin pan or line with paper baking cups; set aside.


Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in bowl. Stir in milk, egg and butter just until moistened. Gently stir in apple and bacon. (Batter will be thick.)


Divide batter evenly among muffin cups. Bake 15-18 minutes or until light golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from oven; top each muffin with 2 quarters cheese. Continue baking 1-2 minutes or until cheese is melted. Cool 5 minutes in pan; remove from pan to cooling rack.
