- 1/2 C SHORTING
- 1/2 C SUGAR
- 1 EGG
- 2 1/2 C FLOUR
- 1 1/2 tsp SODA
- 1/2 tsp SALT
- 1 tsp CINNAMON
- 1 tsp GINGER
- 1/2 tsp CLOVES
- 1 C MOLASSES
- 1 C WATER

Step 1
MELT SHORTING, LET COOL. ADD SUGAR, EGG - BEAT WELL.
SIFT FLOUR, SODA, SALT & NSPICES. COMBINE MOLASSES & WATER. AD ALTERNATELY WITH FLOUR.
HEAT OVEN TO 350. PLACE MIXTURE IN 9 X 9 X 2 INCH PAN. BAKE 50 OR 60 MINUTES.
