Baked Penne wtih Italian sausage

  • 1 lb fully cooked sausage, sliced
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 t pepper
  • 3 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 1/2 cups parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 1 box ziti pasta
  • 1 jar (26-32 oz) spaghetti sauce



Step 1

Cook pasta as directed. Drain and reserve 1 1/2 cups cooking water. Return pasta to pan and stir in spaghetti sauce, sausage and reserved pasta water. Pour half of sauced pasta into baking dish. Mix ricotta together with pepper and then drop large spoonfuls of ricotta evenly over pasta then pour remainder of sauced pasta over ricotta layer. Mix mozzarella and parmesan cheese together. Sprinkle mixture over top of pasta. Spray foil with cooking spray and cover dish tightly. Bake at 400 for 30-40 minutes. Remove foil and bake additonal 25-30 minutes.
