Buttermilk pralines

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp bkg soda
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 tblsp butter
  • 2 tblsp corn syrup
  • 1 cup pecans
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Stir together buttermilk and bkg soda in a large heavy saucepan till blended. Add the sugar, butter, and karo. Cook over medium heat till 234*, about 8-10 minutes. Cool 10-12 minutes. Beat till mixture thickens slightly and add the vanilla and nuts. Drop onto silpat.
