New Year's Eggnog

Ingredients

  • 6 eggs
  • 3/4 sugar
  • 1 pint cream, chilled
  • 1 pint milk, chilled
  • (or 2 pints of half & half)
  • 1 pint of whisky, brandy or bourbon
  • 1/4 Jamaica run

Preparation

Step 1

Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry; gradually add sugar, beating continuously.
Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon-colored; fold in egg whites.
Gradually add chilled cream, milk, whisky or brandy, stirring continuously; add run to taste; stir until well combined.

Gently turn the thick mixture into a well chilled punch bowl, or serve directly into small cups, using a ladle, sprinkle each serving with nutmeg. Allow at least 2 servings for each person.
