Caramel Pound cake

Ingredients

  • Caramel frosting:
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp bkg powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 lb light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 5 oz can evaporated milk
  • Dash salt
  • 1/2 tsp bkg powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Beat the sugars and butter until blended. Add oil then eggs one at a time. Add the combined dry ingredients alternately with the milk and vanilla ending with the flour.
Bake @ 325* for 1 hour 20 minutes making sure the tester comes out clean.
Frosting:
Bring first 4 ingredients to a boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and add the bkg powder and vanilla. Beat with a mixer till thick. Spread on the top of the cake as a thick drizzle.
