Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 3 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 6 chicken breast halves (I cut up the chicken into nugget-size pieces)
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup cooking oil
- 3 cups celery, cut in bite size pieces
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 1/2 Half & Half
- 1 cup American cheese, grated
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 2 Tablespoons melted butter
- 1/2 cup slivered almonds
Preparation
Step 1
Combine flour, salt, pepper and paprika. Roll the chicken breasts* in mixture and brown in the butter and oil. Place celery in the bottom of a greased 3 quart casserole. Place chicken breasts on top of celery. Combine soup, cream, and cheese and pour over the chicken. Top with buttered bread crumbs and almonds. Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. This may be prepared ahead and stored in the refrigerator. Let it reach room temperature before cooking. If serving men, cook more.
